Eclectic Warehouse

We love unique venues, hidden in unusual spaces. The quirkier, the more non-traditional, the better. So we were delighted to hear that custom furniture designer Metropolis-Living is continuing to share its space with the event and film industries after its recent move to a new home. Located at Lawrence and Keele in the Castlefield Design District, the 5,200-sq.-ft. warehouse is a wonderland of industrial chic, full of eclectic, vintage pieces and loads of staging room. The company’s workshop is contained in one part of the building, visible through old factory windows. The rest of the space is set for hosting events.

Ultra-cool salvaged relics are everywhere. Clever vignettes of vintage advertising, neon signs and old industrial tools cover walls, and unusual lighting, kitschy pieces, antique furnishings and taxidermy oddities fill the two event areas. All is for sale or rent. Each room has its own bar and seating areas. A gorgeous bar fashioned from reclaimed wood takes centre stage in the Boiler Room. The Foundry Lounge offers old pinball machines and a red London-style phone booth, perfect for selfies. In one corner, old bus seats create a lounge area. An on-site kitchen is available. Capacity: 300 reception-style.
