For your all your special events, whether it’s a wedding, a meeting, a conference, or a gala fundraiser, we invite you to celebrate in the library! Choose from an intimate exhibit gallery or large vibrant light-filled spaces within Toronto Reference Library. Or, consider renting an entire library branch for your next celebration and party in the stacks in one of three of Toronto Public Library’s most architecturally striking buildings.

Toronto Reference Library: A stunning and distinctive Raymond Moriyama design, this Toronto architectural landmark boasts an expansive open floor design wrapped around a soaring central atrium. The Reference Library offers a range of venues from special collections spaces to distinctive light-filled rooms and extraordinary open floors that can be used individually or combined to fit any size and type of special event.

Bram & Bluma Appel Salon: A versatile and engaging space flooded with natural light, the Appel Salon offers a contemporary modular design and is comprised of three rooms which can be used separately or in combination. Additional features include two outdoor terraces, a full catering kitchen, a built-in bar and private washrooms. Distinctive, well-appointed finishes create a welcoming special event backdrop. Seating capacity: up to 460.


Beeton Hall Events Centre: Beeton Hall Events Centre brings sophisticated elegance to any event with a combination of contemporary wood paneling and exposed brick. Ideal for small to medium sized events, the Centre is a cluster of four spaces: Beeton Hall, Executive Boardroom, Founders’ Room and Sonnet. Key features include a reception lobby, private washrooms, and an optional private entrance. Capacity: 180.


Level One: With an extraordinary atrium above, level one of the Toronto Reference Library is a one-of-a-kind modern cathedral. An open-concept layout, a central stage and flexible seating combine to create the perfect backdrop for large-scale special events. Prominent design elements include serpentine wooden counters, digital display walls and a curved glass browsery creating transparency with the urban landscape. Capacity: 750.

Level Two: With the Reference Library’s collection in full view, the second level is an opportunity to immerse special event guests in a library setting. Striking & contemporary built-in seating options and ample open areas offer maximum flexibility. Circular glass study pods could become focal points for themed activations. Library service counters by day become ideal bars or food stations by night. Capacity: 500.


Level Five: At the pinnacle of this iconic urban library, guests can mingle amongst the stacks and share in celebration while overlooking the spectacular central atrium below and the expansive metropolitan landscape downtown, uptown and beyond. Versatile seating along with open-concept areas and many built-in features make Level Five an exciting private event venue. Capacity: contact us


TD Gallery: This is a space to connect with our collective cultural memory. TD Gallery exhibits feature rare and unique items curated from over four million pieces collected by the library since 1884. Exhibits in the serpentine-shaped gallery are sometimes surprising, often captivating, always engaging. TD Gallery is a sophisticated and inspirational special event venue. Capacity: 60.


Marilyn & Charles Baillie Special Collections Centre: Located on Level Five, the Marilyn & Charles Baillie Special Collections Centre is the Reference Library’s crowning jewel, bringing prominence to the library’s vast and inspiring Special Collections. Visitors escape to 1883 in the Arthur Conan Doyle reading parlor or examine rare treasures in the stunning vaulted rotunda. Equipped with custom furniture encircling a reflective two-story column, the Centre is a truly unique event venue. Capacity: 75.



Toronto Public Library Branches: Imagine renting an entire library for your special event! Whether you are seeking an award-winning heritage building or the architectural splendor of a contemporary design, three of Toronto Public Library neighbourhood branches can be transformed into exciting and dynamic event venues. With maximum flexibility in mind, these libraries offer customizable backdrops to suit a variety of special events and are conveniently located across the city.

Bloor/Gladstone Library: In with the old, in with the new; a beautiful and historically remarkable Toronto building with a striking modern addition. Bloor/Gladstone Library, one of Toronto’s oldest operating libraries, is a designated heritage building and the recipient of multiple design and architecture awards. The building features two gas fireplaces, an array of soft seating and a dramatic glazed extension to the original old building. A central staircase and elevator connects all the floors and a small landscaped terrace is located at the back. Ideal for a stand up cocktail party or a casual dinner and dancing evening. Capacity: 400.


Fort York Library: A modern, award-winning glass design with urban neighbourhood appeal and amazing views of the city. Fort York Library is a highly transparent two story glass building oriented to yield unimpeded views to Fort York, the city and the lake. Mobile book cases, built-in custom counters and sleek lounge seating combine for maximum flexibility to transform this beautiful downtown library into a stylish urban event space with easy transit access and nearby parking. Capacity: 300.


Scarborough Civic Centre Library: An elegant wood and glass landmark beautifully situated in a diverse and multicultural community. Scarborough Civic Centre Library boasts an energizing and naturalistic design featuring a black spruce interior and panoramic windows. With a vibrant, open concept layout and four green roofs, the building is an elegant expression of the local landscape. The convenience of a customizable interior combined with easy access and ample nearby parking, make this library the perfect venue for many occasions. Capacity: 300.
