At Luxelife Sound, women rule the DJ booth. The boutique booking agency specializes in matching its ensemble of all-female mix masters with corporate and private gigs. “Our dressed-to-impress DJs are especially popular with beauty and lifestyle brand events,” says managing partner Cleo Ellis who started the company with DJ and head of talent Lissa Monet. The pair launched the agency in May 2016 to ensure women, particularly women of colour and those in the LGBTQ intersections, receive equal pay and job opportunity in the music business.
Handpicked for their ability to interact, set a vibe and read a crowd, the company’s talent roster has five dedicated DJs with four others on rotation to accommodate multiple gigs. From chill lounge beats to pop ’80s dance parties, Luxelife plays to all musical tastes and genres as well as supplying quality sound systems. “We take a very organic approach to elevating the event atmosphere for audiences, clients and brands by custom-curating music to theme and age group,” notes Ellis. “It’s about more than just the playlist, though. It’s also about creating a memorable, on-point experience.”
