Take aim with a group archery session from Try That!

Searching for event programming that will flex ye old corporate brawn and finesse teamworking skills? A little sporting action goes a long way in boosting company morale and honing the gang's competitive tiger (not to mention ramping up the fun factor!).

Check out these no-experience-necessary ideas and programs to get your event participants moving and active:

Bull's Eye — What better teambuilding goal can there be than learning to hit a target consistently? Try That!, an experiential planning company, introduces the ancient art of archery to groups of six to 15 people. Gather at the Arches of Caledon, a sprawling archery facility northwest of Toronto that offers an indoor range and outdoor tournament area plus a 28-target field course.

Try That! customizes the day with business and archery learning parallels. Led by top Canadian archers, participants learn to hold regulation-size bows and take aim with plenty of practise time. Once familiar with techniques, the games begin including vying for the high-scoring Master Archer title and team competitions. Enjoy the ultimate dart game with archers shooting to score on a four-foot dartboard. Sessions are four hours with lunch included.

Perfecting technique before mounting a live polo pony. Polo Management Services.

Saddle Up — Join the horse-and-mallet set with a day on the polo field. New company Polo Management Services, in conjunction with the Toronto Polo Club, offers “Corporate Polo Day” which introduces groups of six to eight people to one of the world's most elite sports. The day-long session at Bancroft Farms, located in King City, begins with an orientation to the game and work with mallets and body positioning on life-size wooden ponies. After lunch, it's on to the real thing with polo riding lessons (over 80% of participants are typically non-riders) culminating in exhilarating scrimmage sessions on the regulation-size field.

Play up the day with VIP enhancements such as limousine service, champagne and trophy presentations and an action recap over drinks and dinner at a near-by fine-dining establishment. Snow polo sessions (the first in North America!) are also available. Or, bring the sport to your event with polo demonstrations and the wooden training ponies—great photo opps!

Reach for the top in a ropes climbing program by Summit Training & Development.

On The Ropes — Take the team to new heights with the challenging adventure-based ropes training course hidden within the rolling, forested ravines of The Estates of Sunnybrook. The only ropes course within the GTA, the four-structure circuit is part of an experiential learning program facilitated by Summit Training & Development that combines indoor teamwork and leadership sessions with outdoor rope challenges.

Accommodating up to 100 people, the ropes course reinforces classroom learning by engaging different skill sets and climbing and supporting roles for everyone. Scale The Wall as part of a three-member team, or conquer the climb to the top of The Pole then jump (harness, helmets and support ropes safely in place, of course!). Appearances are deceiving: The challenge is more mental than physical. If you can climb stairs you can conquer the ropes!
