EcoCabs For Green Moves

This summer sees a fleet of 28 three-wheeled EcoCabs zipping around town. Easily mistaken for an open-sided Smart Car, the emissions-free two-seater cabs are pedal powered (with a little help from a rechargeable battery). Fleet owner Go Mobile Media has arranged corporate sponsors — their branding wraps each vehicle — so rides are free.

Exclusive usage at downtown events and festivals is decided on a case-by-case basis depending on theme and target audience-fit with cabs’ sponsors. Check out Go Mobile Media’s other novel advertising vehicles including scrolling billboard trucks and glass-walled showroom trucks for mobile live displays.

Martini And Manicure Events
Overwhelmed by requests for cocktails and pampering going hand-in-hand, the Polish Beauty Bar recently closed its hip Camden Street location to launch a mobile version of their mani/pedi services. Along with hosting designated Martini & Manicure nights at partnering bars and lounges, the company is also adding their signature polish to the social and corporate event circuit.

Co-owner Meredith Oke encourages planners to think out-of-the-manicure-station box with ideas such as requesting polish colours in keeping with event theme. Or, stock the nail bar with martinis to match the colours and wildly fun names of the polish. Additional spa services, including massage and makeup touchups, and fully mobile upscale lounge settings are available.

A New Look On The Lake
Set your group afloat this summer in a splash of colour on Mariposa Cruises’ strikingly transformed Torontonian. Local artists Wendy Biss and David Winfield turned the two-level cruise ship into a floating art installation with vividly coloured hand-painted butterflies winging their way above the waterline.

The 2008 cruising season signals a rebirth of sorts in other areas of the cruise line company, which operates seven ships of varying sizes out of Toronto Harbour. Along with design upgrades to some of its vessels, restaurant consultant Robert Pearce (The Drake Hotel, Jack Astors) has overhauled menu offerings, and a new partnership with popular DJ service Third from the Sun ensures guests get their on-the-water groove on.
